Japan's jobless rate rises to 3.9% in November

TOKYO, Dec. 26 (Chinese media) -- Japan's jobless rate saw

the first rise in three months in November, up by 0.2 percentage point from

October to 3.9 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to official

figures released Friday.

The unemployment rate for men went up 0.2 percentage

point to 4.1 percent while that for women rose 0.3 percentage point to 3.8

percent, said the Internal Affairs and Communications Ministry in a preliminary

report.

The number of the unemployed grew 100,000 to 2.56

million on a year-on-year basis, it said.

Meanwhile, the ratio of job offers to job seekers

reported by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare slid 0.04 point to 0.76,

meaning 100 job seekers were vying for 76 jobs.
