TOKYO, Jan. 27 (Chinese media) -- Tokyo stocks closed sharply higher Tuesday with the key Nikkei index jumping 4.93 percent.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Average rose 378.93 points to 8,061.07 from Monday.
The broader Topix index advanced 37.21 points, or 4.84 percent, to 805.49.
All 33 sectors on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained ground, led by insurance, real estate and nonferrous metal issues.
On the First Section, advancing issues outnumbered declining ones 1,506 to 150, with 53 issues remaining unchanged.
Value leader Toyota Motor was up 225 yen, or more than 8 percent, to 2,980 yen while volume leader Mizuho Financial increased 24 yen, or nearly 12 percent, to 230 yen.
Trading volume on the main section expanded to 2,046.62 million shares from 1,615.28 million Monday.
The TSE's Second Section index gained 10.99 points, or 0.58 percent, to 1,891.19 on a volume of 19.28 million shares.
On the Osaka Securities Exchange, the near-term March Nikkei 225 index futures contract rose 490 points to 8,080.
