China Enterprises Index up 1.93%

HONG KONG, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Hang Seng China Enterprises Index on Hong
Kong Stock Exchange went up Monday with 184.95 points, or 1.93 percent, to close
the day's trading at 9,607.29.


The H-shares index, initiated in August 1994 and readjusted on Jan. 5,
2009, tracks the overall performance of 43 major Chinese mainland state-owned
enterprises listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Hang Seng China H-Financials Index moved up 264.55 points, or 2.12 percent,
to close at 12,745.89.

The H-Financials Index, initiated on Nov. 27, 2006, readjusted on Sept. 10,
2007, tracks the performance of nine major banks and insurers of the Chinese
mainland.

Hang Seng Mainland Composite Index went up 51.23 points, or 1.63 percent,
to close at 3,194.10.

Introduced on Oct. 3, 2001 with the latest readjustment effective on March
9, 2009, Hang Seng Mainland Composite Index gauges the performance of 132 Hong
Kong-listed companies with principal places of business in Hong Kong and the
Chinese mainland.

Hang Seng China-Affiliated Corporations Index moved up 20.01 points, or
0.56 percent, to close at 3,567.48.

The index tracks the performance of 34 locally listed companies with a
significant equity interest held by entities in the Chinese mainland.

Chinese shares open slightly lower

BEIJING, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shares opened slightly lower on Monday.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropped 0.48 percent to 2,632.57.
The Shenzhen Component Index was down 0.61 percent to 10,211.02 at the opening.

China Enterprises Index up 1.68%

HONG KONG, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Hang Seng China Enterprises Index on Hong
Kong Stock Exchange went up Friday with 158.76 points, or 1.68 percent higher,
to close the day's trading at 9,607.29.

The H-shares index, initiated in August 1994 and readjusted on Jan. 5,
2009, tracks the overall performance of 43 major Chinese mainland state-owned
enterprises listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Hang Seng China H-Financials Index moved up 215.56 points, or 1.76 percent,
to close at 12,481.34.

The H-Financials Index, initiated on Nov. 27, 2006, readjusted on Sept. 10,
2007, tracks the performance of nine major banks and insurers of the Chinese
mainland.

Hang Seng Mainland Composite Index went up 45.61 points, or 1.47 percent,
to close at 3,142.87.

Introduced on Oct. 3, 2001 with the latest readjustment effective on March
9, 2009, Hang Seng Mainland Composite Index gauges the performance of 132 Hong
Kong-listed companies with principal places of business in Hong Kong and the
Chinese mainland.

Hang Seng China-Affiliated Corporations Index moved up 13.82 points, or
0.39 percent, to close at 3,547.47.

The index tracks the performance of 34 locally listed companies with a
significant equity interest held by entities in the Chinese mainland.

China Enterprises Index up 0.17%

HONG KONG, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Hang Seng China Enterprises Index on Hong
Kong Stock Exchange edged up 16.40 points on Wednesday, or0.17 percent higher,
to close the day's trading at 9,738.62.

The H-shares index, initiated in August 1994 and readjusted on Jan. 5 this
year, tracks the overall performance of 43 major Chinese mainland state-owned
enterprises listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Hang Seng China H-Financials Index moved down 96.57 points, or 0.76
percent, to close at 12,619.46.

The H-Financials Index, initiated on Nov. 27, 2006, readjusted on Sept. 10,
2007, tracks the performance of nine major banks and insurers of the Chinese
mainland.

Hang Seng Mainland Composite Index went down 3.56 points, or 0.11 percent,
to close at 3,159.78.

Introduced on Oct. 3, 2001 with the latest readjustment effective on March
9 this year. Hang Seng Mainland Composite Index gauges the performance of 132
Hong Kong-listed companies with principal places of business in Hong Kong and
the Chinese mainland.

Hang Seng China-Affiliated Corporations Index moved down 1.91 points, or
0.05 percent, to close at 3,619.97.

Japanese shares surge 4.55% to six-month high

TOKYO, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Japan's Nikkei index soared 4.55 percent to a six-month closing high of nearly 9,400 after a three-day holiday when global markets rallied.


The benchmark Nikkei-225 index rose 408.33 points, or 4.55 percent, from Friday to 9,385.70, marking a new closing high since Nov. 5.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 39.08 points, or 4.61 percent, to 885.93.

Tokyo stocks gained momentum from the New York and other Asian markets which had risen for several consecutive trading days during Japan's Golden Week holidays.

Stocks rose across the board, with financial stocks leading the surge. Insurance, banking and securities issues were among the most notable gainers following the strong performance of their U.S. counterparts.

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, the day's value leader, was up 84 yen, or almost 16 percent, to 617 yen, while Mizuho Financial Group, the day's volume leader, gained 25 yen, or 12 percent, to 232 yen.

Trading volume on the main section came to 3,109.02 million shares, up remarkably from Friday's 2,247.50 million.

The TSE's Second Section index rose 28.96 points, or 1.52 percent, to 1,928.83 on a volume of 38.24 million shares. On the Osaka Securities Exchange, the near-term June Nikkei 225 index futures contract was up 340 points to 9,370.

Stock Exchange went up Thursday with 146.72 points, or 1.50 percent higher, to
close the day's trading at 9,896.93.

2009, tracks the overall performance of 43 major Chinese mainland state-owned
enterprises listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Hang Seng China H-Financials Index moved up 218.46 points, or 1.75 percent,

Hang Seng Mainland Composite Index went up 46.11 points, or 1.47 percent,
to close at 3,175.96.

China Enterprises Index up 1.57%


HONG KONG, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Hang Seng China Enterprises Index on Hong Kong
Stock Exchange went up Friday with 154.97 points, or 1.57 percent higher, to
close the day's trading at 10,051.90.

The H-shares index, initiated in August 1994 and readjusted on Jan. 5,
2009, tracks the overall performance of 43 major Chinese mainland state-owned
enterprises listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Hang Seng China H-Financials Index moved up 183.70 points, or 1.44 percent,
to close at 12,921.02.

The H-Financials Index, initiated on Nov. 27, 2006, readjusted on Sept. 10,
2007, tracks the performance of nine major banks and insurers of the Chinese
mainland.

Hang Seng Mainland Composite Index went up 62.39 points, or 1.96 percent,
to close at 3,238.35.

Chinese shares open slightly lower tracking Wall Street losses

BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shares opened slightly lower on Friday following Wall Street overnight losses.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropped 0.41 percent to 2,586.76. The Shenzhen Component Index went down 0.94 percent to 10,014.25 at the opening.

On Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrial average lost 1.2 percent to 8,409.85, while the broader Standard Poor's 500 index fell 1.32 percent to 907.39.

HONG KONG, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Hang Seng China Enterprises Index on Hong Kong
Stock Exchange went up Wednesday with 148.13 points, or 1.54 percent higher, to
close the day's trading at 9,750.21.

HK stocks rise on 5th consecutive session

HONG KONG, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Gains in HSBC and other financial firms on
hopes for improvement in the sector's earnings drove Hong Kong shares to a
seven-month high Wednesday, the fifth consecutive session the benchmark index
has closed higher.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 404.49 points, or 2.5 percent, to
16,834.57, off a low of 16,268.03 in the morning session. The last time the
index ended above Wednesday's level was on Oct. 3 last year, when it closed at
17,682.

Turnover rose to 80.40 billion HK dollars (10.39 billion U.S. dollars) from
Tuesday's 77.79 billion HK dollars (10.05 billion U.S. dollars).

Analysts had expected a consolidation after the 15 percent surge over the
past week. They said Wednesday the market has been extremely overbought and a
pullback is still imminent, with initial support at 13,800 to 14,000 points, and
warned of further declines given uncertainties over the U.S. economy.

HSBC led the day's blue-chip gains, rising 6.3 percent to 61.60HK dollars,
contributing 194.24 points to the Hang Seng Index's rise.

Among other local lenders, Hang Seng Bank jumped 10 percent to 98.85 HK
dollars and Bank of East Asia surged 6.1 percent to 22.55 HK dollars.

The finance sub-index went up 878.13 points or 3.70 percent to 24,642.88.

The properties sub-index rose 55.69 points or 0.25 percent at 21,903.89.

The commerce and industry sub-index went up 146.70 points or 1.60 percent
to 9,309.88.

The utilities sub-index rose 218.42 points or 0.61 percent at 35,924.64.

Chinese shares rise slightly as new loans expected to fall in April

BEIJING, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese equities rose slightly Tuesday after
media reported new yuan-denominated loans in April would fall to 600 billion
yuan (87.85 billion U.S. dollars) from a record high of 1.89 trillion yuan a
month earlier.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.29 percent, or 7.43 points,
to close at 2,567.34. The Shenzhen Component Index was up 0.49 percent, or 48.14
points, to 9,947.81.

Gainers outnumbered losers by 645 to 267 in Shanghai and 571 to 194 in
Shenzhen.

Combined turnover rose to 231.16 billion yuan from 221.65 billion yuan on
the previous trading day.

surged 310.86 points, or 3.66 percent, to close at 8,796.08 on Wednesday.

China Enterprises Index falls 1.76% in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, April 16 (Xinhua) -- All major indices reflecting the
performance of Hong Kong-listed Chinese mainland companies closed lower on
Thursday after China's released its key economic data in the first quarter.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lost 164.23 points, or 1.76 percent,
to close at 9,141.23 as investors locked in profits on huge rally during the
previous sessions.

The H-shares index, initiated in August 1994 and readjusted on Jan. 5,
2009, tracks the overall performance of 43 major Chinese mainland enterprises
listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The Hang Seng China H-Financials Index slumped 268.34 points, or 2.18
