BRUSSELS, Dec. 4 (Chinese media) -- The Dutch government could pledge more money to help companies and financial institutions to tackle the ongoing economic crisis, Dutch media reported Thursday.
Dutch Finance Minister Wouter Bos told the parliament Wednesday he will provide additional capital for the financial sector if the situation calls for it.
Bos said he is keeping an eye on what is going on in the United States where a new round of government help is being extended.
"I don't know if that will be necessary here, but we are not ruling it out," Dutch daily NRC Handelsblad quoted him as saying.
The Dutch government has injected a total of 13.75 billion euros (17.33 billion U.S. dollars) into banks since October, when it set up a 20-billion-euro (25.2 billion dollar) emergency fund for the financial sector.
The government is also considering taking new measures in support of enterprises such as providing more bank loan guarantees for them.
The government now offers an up to 5-million-euro (6.3 million dollar) guarantee for each company's risk capital and is considering whether to raise the limit to 25 million euros, or even 100 million euros (31.5 million and 126 million dollars, respectively).
