LONDON, Dec. 8 (Chinese media) -- British shares rose sharply in Monday's early trade, as governments worldwide take steps to stave off a deep recession.
The benchmark FTSE 100 index was up 205.23 points, or 5.07 percent, at 4,254.17 by 08:50 GMT.
Miners were among the biggest gainers, with Anglo American up 10.8 percent, Eurasian Natural Resources up 10 and BHP Billiton up9 percent.
