Indian stocks close higher

MUMBAI, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The Indian stock benchmark Sensex closed Monday at 12,134.75 points, up 731.50 points or 6.41 percent from the previous closing last Wednesday.

The total turnover was 393.42 million U.S. dollars.

Sensex is the common name for the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index. It consists of the 30 largest and most actively traded stocks, representative of various sectors, on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
