Hong Kong stocks end sharply higher

The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 306.52 points, or 2.04 percent, to open at 15,349.33 and was lifted by huge gains of energy and telecommunications companies to close at the day's highest 15,563.31 after touching the intra-day low 15,128.32 in the morning session.

Turnover jumped to 49.42 billion HK dollars (6.38 billion U.S. dollars) from Friday's 30.53 billion HK dollars (3.94 billion U.S.dollars).
