Taiwan stocks end 2.33 pct higher

HONG KONG, Jan. 5 (Chinese media) -- Taiwan stocks rose 107.09 points, or 2.33%,

to close at 4,698.31 Monday, according to media reports reaching here from

Taipei.

The benchmark weighted index opened 2.92 percent higher and narrowed its gains at closing after trading between intra-day low

high 4,778.52.

Turnover totaled 66.90 billion New Taiwan dollars (2.03 billion U.S.

dollars).

Advancing shares led declining issues 1,353 to 252, with 179 unchanged.
