SINGAPORE, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The shares prices in Singapore rose 108.43 points or 5.65 percent on Monday with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) closing at 2,028.71 points.
The overall volume stood at 2,816.1 million shares worth 2,334.1 million Singapore dollars (about 1578.5 million U.S. dollars).
Gainers led losers by 446 to 128 with another 630 unchanged.
On Thursday, the STI rose 70.71 points or 3.82 percent to end at 1,920.28 points.
The Singapore Exchange stopped trading on Friday due to the May Day holiday.
