KATHMANDU, March 6 (Chinese media) -- A meeting of joint secretaries of commerce
of Nepal and India has begun here to review the Nepal-India Trade Treaty, the
National News Agency RSS reported on Friday.
The meeting, started on Thursday, will try to reach an understanding in
remaining issues as per the understanding reached in the inter-governmental
committee meeting some three months ago, according to the leader of Nepali
delegation and joint secretary at the ministry of commerce and supplies Surya
Silwal.
He said Nepal has presented an amended proposal to the treaty to control
illegal trade in between the two countries.
The meeting will conclude Friday. Joint secretaries of the two countries
will sign the conclusion of the meeting. The document signed by joint
secretaries will be presented in the secretary-level meeting. If approved by the
secretaries, the document will be presented in the cabinets of the two countries
for approval.
The Indian delegation is led by Rajiv Kher, joint secretary of Commerce of
India.
