Swedish industrial production, orders decrease in fourth quarter

STOCKHOLM, Feb. 10 (Chinese media) -- Both the industrial production and new orders in Sweden suffered big fall in the fourth quarter last year, according to the preliminary estimates released by Statistics Sweden Tuesday.

The total industrial production decreased by 7.8 percent in the fourth quarter 2008 compared to the third quarter, while new orders for Swedish industry fell by 13.4 percent, the agency said in a statement.

The production in the capital goods industry decreased by 8.5 percent in the fourth quarter in comparison with the preceding quarter and production in the intermediate goods industry decreased by 10.8 percent.

The decrease of new orders in the domestic market was 12.7 percent while the decrease in the export market was 13.9 percent, Statistics Sweden added.
