Tokyo stocks open sharply higher on stronger dollar

TOKYO, Feb. 6 (Chinese media) -- Tokyo stocks opened sharply higher Friday on the U.S. dollar's rise of more than 1 yen and an overnight surge on Wall Street.

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 201.31 points, or 2.53 percent, from Thursday to 8,150.96.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 15.96 points, or 2.03 percent, to 802.37. The Second Section also advanced.
