Tokyo stocks end sharply higher in morning session

TOKYO, Feb. 6 (Chinese media) -- Tokyo stocks rose sharply Friday morning on the U.S. dollar's steep rise against the yen and an overnight surge on Wall Street.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 199.69 points, or 2.51 percent, from Thursday to 8,149.34.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 11.07 points, or 1.41 percent, to 797.48.
