Special Report:Global Financial Crisis
CHICAGO, Feb. 6 (Chinese media) -- Grain futures in the Chicago Board of Trade were mixed Friday on speculation the weather in Argentina will go back to drought next week.
Corn futures for March delivery ended up 6 cents to 3.7725 U.S. dollars a bushel. March soybean gained 21 cents to 10.01 dollars per bushel and March wheat was down 4.75 cents, settling on 5.57 dollars per bushel.
Although recent scattered showers eased the drought in Argentina, updated weather forecasts call for dry conditions next week again, giving some support to corn and soybean futures in CBOT.
Argentine farmers were reportedly continuing to discuss the possibility of a strike during the second half of February, but there has been no official decision yet by the four main farm groups.
Forecasts in China call for rains in drought-threatened wheat planting areas, which was considered as bearish news to wheat futures.
There was some information about wheat international demand Friday. Tunisia bought 50,000 tons soft milling wheat and Pakistanis in the market for 250,000 tons white wheat.
